Sikhala, Sithole Bail Bid Flops Again
Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislators Job Sikhala and Godfrey Sithole have for the fifth consecutive time been denied bail at the Harare Magistrates Court.
Through their lawyers Jeremiah Bamu and Beatrice Mtetwa, Sithole and Sikhala had applied for bail on changed circumstances.
In denying them bail, Harare Magistrate Taurai Manuwere said there are no changed circumstances to warrant freedom to the duo.
They are facing charges of inciting public violence in the wake of party activist Moreblessing Ali’s funeral in Chitungwiza’s Nyatsime area.
Sikhala and Sithole were arrested on 14 June 2022 after attending Ali’s funeral.
The State accused the MPs of encouraging their supporters to cause violence in Nyatsime, Chitungwiza, during Ali’s memorial.
Their continued incarceration has received widespread condemnation from the international community.
