Three people died while eighteen others were injured in a road accident which occurred at the 308 km peg along Bulawayo-Beitbridge Road on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) a Toyota Corolla with four passengers on board was involved in a head on collision with a Toyota Quantum resulting in the Quantum catching fire.
“The ZRP reports a fatal road traffic accident where three people were killed while 18 others were injured when a Toyota Corolla vehicle with four passengers on board and a Toyota Quantum vehicle with 17 passengers on board, were involved in a head on collision at the 308 km peg along Bulawayo-Beitbridge Road on 08/01/23 at around 1430 hours.
“As a result of the accident, the Toyota Quantum vehicle caught fire and was burnt to a shell leading to one of the victims being burnt beyond recognition. The bodies of the victims were taken to Beitbridge District Hospital mortuary for post mortem while the injured are admitted at the same hospital,” said the ZRP
The accident is one of several accidents that occurred over the weekend following fatal road accidents in Harare, Beitbridge and Chegutu in which eight people died and several others injured.
