Wedza Shooting Suspect Arrested In Mozambique
Ex-CID officer, Jaison Muvhevhi, who shot and killed three people in Wedza last Friday afternoon has been arrested this morning after crossing into Mozambique.
Muvhevhi shot and killed an apostolic sect leader in cold blood as he was preaching in front of congregants, then shot the Officer-in-Charge of Wedza police station, Inspector Maxwell Hove and a male bartender and is also reported to have seriously injured another police officer.
National Police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest applauding members of the public in pursuit of the suspect.
“Reference is made to the Zimbabwe Republic Police press statement on the shooting incident in which three people were shot dead while another person was seriously injured on 13th January 2023 in Wedza. The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms that the murder suspect, Jaison Muvevi has been arrested while trying to cross into Mozambique this morning.
“Meanwhile, the victims of the murder have been identified as follows, Crispen Mubvana Kanerusine (62) of Zinzombe Village, Wedza, Inspector Maxwell Hove (43) of ZRP Wedza Camp and Munashe Mujanhi (20) of Mujanhi Village, Wedza.
“The injured is, Detective Constable Tendai Mugova. The Zimbabwe Republic Police acknowledges and appreciates the support given by members of the public in the pursuit of the suspect. Equally, we applaud the bilateral relations with Mozambican Police counterparts which has led to the collaboration and arrest of Jason Muvevi,” said Assistant Commissioner Nyathi
