Police Clear The Air On Warren Park Assault Incident
By Staff Reporter
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) says the assault incident that occurred in Harare’s Warren Park suburb yesterday had nothing to do with members of the security forces.
The two men were arrested yesterday after pointing a firearm at a popular self-styled prophet Madzibaba Moses in Warren Park suburb where he was conducting door-to-door prayers.
The prophet, real name Lloyd Gwasira, was unhurt but his aides attacked the two men.
The two men are alleged to have accused Madzibaba Moses of bewitching them after they left his congregation which has a large following and holds services near Gwanzura Stadium in Highfields.
In a statement, the ZRP said the dispute was purely religious.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police reiterates that the alleged assault incident in Warren Park 1, Harare on 21/02/23 involved Lloyd Gwasarira (43) alias Madzibaba Moses of Madzibaba Masowe Echishanu and two suspects, Tafadzwa Matoro (37) and Elvis Borerwi (39).
“The two suspects were arrested and the case was referred to CID Homicide after one of them used a pistol to threaten complainant during their dispute. The dispute is purely on religious differences and has nothing to do with members of the security services or CID Homicide. The suspects are not even members of the security service and are employed in Tynwald and Willowvale industrial areas, respectively,” said the ZRP
