Chivi Accident Claims One Life: Police

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed a tragic road traffic accident that occurred at the 52 km peg along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Road yesterday, leaving a trail of destruction and devastation.
According to the ZRP, the harrowing incident involved two haulage trucks traveling in opposite directions.
The ZRP confirms a fatal road traffic accident which occurred at the 52 km peg along Masvingo -Beitbridge Road in which one person died while seven others were injured.
“A haulage truck which was travelling towards Beitbridge with five passengers on board was involved in a head on collision with another haulage truck travelling in the opposite direction with two passengers on board. Both trucks caught fire and were burnt beyond recognition,” said the ZRP
The intensity of the blaze was so severe that the two trucks were completely burnt beyond recognition, making it challenging for authorities to identify them.
“As a result of the explosion, Toyota Fun Cargo and Toyota Premier vehicles caught fire and were burnt beyond recognition. All occupants from Toyota Fun Cargo and Toyota Premier vehicles escaped unhurt,” said the police
Initial reports had suggested that several people might have perished in the accident after nearby villagers got alarmed by the thick black smoke emanating from the site and rushed to the scene to offer assistance.
