Tragic Road Accident Claims Six Lives on Kwekwe-Gokwe Road

In a devastating incident on yesterday, a fatal road traffic accident occurred on the Kwekwe-Gokwe Road, resulting in the loss of six lives and leaving seven others injured.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the grim details of the collision.
The collision took place at approximately 1800 hours near the 15-kilometre peg along the Kwekwe-Gokwe Road.
A Nissan NP300, carrying three passengers and traveling towards Kwekwe, collided head-on with a Honda Fit vehicle, which was carrying eight passengers and heading in the opposite direction.
The impact of the crash was severe, claiming the lives of both drivers and two passengers on the spot. Tragically, two other passengers succumbed to their injuries upon admission to Kwekwe General Hospital.
Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi provided further information on the identities of the deceased.
“Three victims have been positively identified by their next of kin, they are Edward Mutimbu, a male adult aged 40, employed by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service at Headquarters, Tafadzwa Chokera, a 24-year-old male from Zhombe Business Centre, and Anna Muzeziwa, a 42-year-old female from Zhombe Mission Hospital.” said Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi
However, the next of kin are yet to identify the remaining three victims.
Following the accident, the bodies of the victims were transported to the mortuary at Kwekwe General Hospital, where post-mortem examinations will be conducted.
Currently, five of the injured victims are receiving treatment at Kwekwe General Hospital, while the remaining two are admitted to Gweru General Hospital.
Assistant Commissioner Nyathi emphasized the importance of road safety, urging motorists to exercise patience and adhere to all road rules and regulations.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police implores motorists to be patient on the roads and above all adhere to all road rules and regulations,” he stated.
