Tragedy Strikes Budiriro and Kuwadzana as Heavy Rains Submerge Homes

In a devastating turn of events, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) reports a distressing incident in Budiriro 4 Paddock area, Harare, where nearly 15 houses were submerged in water due to heavy rains that pounded the city and its surrounding areas last night and today.
According to a Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) statement the police Sub-Aqua Unit sprang into action, rescuing several marooned individuals, but the community is grappling with the heartbreaking news of a missing six-year-old child.
” The ZRP reports a sad incident where nearly 15 houses were submerged in water in Budiriro 4 Paddock area, Harare. Several people were marooned and rescued by ZRP Sub-Aqua Unit while a six-year-old minor is missing after heavy rains which pounded Harare and surrounding areas last night and today. The ZRP Sub-Aqua Unit has also rescued 19 families in Kuwadzana Extension where some houses had been submerged in water,” read the police statement
The unit’s swift response and dedication to their duty ensured that many people were brought to safety, despite the challenging conditions caused by the rising waters. The Sub-Aqua Unit worked tirelessly to navigate the flooded areas, providing a lifeline to those affected.
The ZRP is actively coordinating with other emergency response teams to locate the missing six-year-old minor in Budiriro. The entire community is urged to remain vigilant and cooperative as the search and rescue efforts continue.
Harare has experienced a series of intense rainfall over the past 24 hours, leading to flash floods in various neighborhoods.
