Marry Mubaiwa Files For Permanent Stay of Prosecution

Marry Mubaiwa the embattled former wife of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, has filed for a permanent stay of prosecution, claiming that her deteriorating health prevents her from standing trial.
On Monday, Mubaiwa appeared before Harare magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka.
According to the State being represented by Lancelot Mutsokoti, the case was scheduled for today for a monitoring hearing to assess Mubaiwa’s fitness to stand trial.
Mutsokoti also indicated that Mubaiwa had filed an application for a permanent stay of prosecution, to which the State has not yet responded.
Additionally, Mubaiwa has another pending application for stay of prosecution before the High Court, with a ruling expected on November 27th.
Magistrate Chakanyuka rolled over the matter to 22 November.
Mubaiwa is facing charges of attempted murder after she allegedly tried to kill Vice President Constantino Chiwenga at a time he was seeking medical treatment in South Africa.
She is also facing money laundering charges.
