Chipo Mahamba -maNxumalo, the founder of Vana Vedu Organization, has had her commitment to empowering and uplifting the lives of marginalized and vulnerable communities recognized at the 3rd SheMillionaire Africa Women Wealth Builders Awards 2024, held in Limpopo, South Africa.
The philanthropist, who is also a pastor, received a Community Voice Award for her active role in promoting the well-being of vulnerable individuals and girls, not only in her Chitungwiza community but across Zimbabwe.
Expressing her gratitude shortly after receiving the award at the event, Mahamba said this recognition comes at a pivotal time as she works tirelessly to eradicate poverty and enhance youth well being.
“There is a saying that a prophet is not honored in his own land. I was almost fainting when I saw the list of women impacting their communities, including myself.”
“I believe in the potential of the marginalized and vulnerable, especially the girl child. That is why I am striving for a world free from gender-based violence and poverty, where women and girls can pursue their dreams without limitations.”
“This award has fueled my energy to continue doing great work within my community. Many thanks to the organizers of the event; their appreciation has motivated me. I look forward to being recognized in my country as well,” she said.
Mahamba is a multi-award winner who holds several qualifications in leadership and theology. She also serves as the chairperson for Women in Business in the Seke District under the Ministry of Women Affairs and is the Vice Secretary General for the Chitungwiza Junior Football Development League.
The occasion featured her Zimbabwean colleagues, including Fungisai Zvakavepano, who won a Gospel Icon Award.
