The congregation at Divine Family Ministries International (DFMI) celebrated a milestone seven years of worship, growth, and outreach during a lively anniversary event in Kuwadzana 5, attended by hundreds who gathered to honor the church’s journey.
“Celebrating seven years, to me, means real establishment and growth. It has been God since the first day,” said DFMI founder, Apostle Amos Taguta, as he reflected on the church’s journey since its inception in 2017.
Addressing the audience on the event’s second day, Apostle Taguta, who is also the father of young rising singer Eliana, shared heartfelt messages and sang with the Unveiled Choral group, emphasizing the challenges and resilience involved in founding a ministry.
“The establishment and God’s calling are not an easy thing; that is the reason we are celebrating today. We are celebrating seven years of existence, and it means completeness and growth. Celebration is not a problem; actually, it is good, but you need to be aware. We must grow and also move forward as a church.” Apostle Taguta said
He encouraged congregants to strengthen their faith and grow spiritually, drawing inspiration from the story of Jesus at age 12 in the Gospel of Luke.
“As you’re growing, know your God, not like some other people who don’t know their God,” he added, urging the congregation to deepen their connection with God.
Apostle Taguta, who expressed profound gratitude for his spiritual calling, also highlighted his commitment to the community.
“I thank God for calling me to heal and unite the community of Kuwadzana through various initiatives. By doing so, we are looking to establish assemblies in all corners of the world,” he said, expressing DFMI’s vision for global expansion.
The anniversary festivities were bolstered by guest speakers, including Apostle Bvumbe, who spoke on the importance of seeking divine favor as the church continues to grow, referencing Isaiah 22:22.
“There are closed doors that men cannot open in his or her own life that needs God. As the church is growing, you must understand the dynamics of opening doors. Each door has its own keys to unlock it; it is crucial to know the exact key that unlocks. Everyone needs an open door,” Apostle Bvumbe said.
Prophet B. Mwamba, who opened the conference, praised the commitment of DFMI’s leaders since the church’s inception, while Prophet Elisha, visiting from Chegutu, delivered a message that aligned with the conference’s theme of grace.
Sunday’s service saw a surprise visit from the local councilor, who addressed the congregation, sharing words of wisdom and support for DFMI’s positive impact on the community.
Established in 2017 with a handful of members, DFMI faced challenges in its early years, including the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Taguta innovated by encouraging small group gatherings in homes, keeping the church’s momentum strong despite restrictions.
The weekend celebration drew attendees from across Zimbabwe, including Odzi, Mhondoro, Mvurwi, and Centenary, as they gathered to mark the occasion with prayers, sermons, and a commemorative cake-cutting ceremony.
Apostle Taguta, who is married to Prophetess Louisa and has two daughters, reflected on the past and looked forward to the future with hope and faith.
