The Buy Zimbabwe week promotion roared into life in Harare yesterday amid push for market access for local brands ahead of the festive season.
This year’s promotion running under the theme Defend and Grow Zimbabwe products market share is being held at Aspindale shopping centre and will be running until the 25th of November.
Buy Zimbabwe general manager Alois Burutsa the country loses significant amounts of money through the purchase of foreign products.
“At the end of every year Zimbabwe loses significant amounts of money to foreign products which are pushed into the county. To save foreign currency and jobs, Buy Zimbabwe introduced Buy Zimbabwe week as we push for market access for local brands ahead of the festive season,” said Burutsa.
The buy Zimbabwe will focus on four crucial key growth areas for the local value chain which are creating mind awareness in customers, promoting Buy Zimbabwe insignia, aligning the expectations of But Zimbabwe which practices local retailers and roping in the media to witness first hand increase in local production.
The week long promotion will be characterised by roadshows by selected leading wholesale and retail outlets with buy onsite brand activations.
Participating brands are OK, Pick n Pay, Mohammed Mussa Wholesalers, Metropeach, N Richards, Spar, TV Sales and Home and Bata Shoe Company.
