Harare Man Arrested For Peddling Dagga In CBD

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested a 26 year old Harare man for peddling drugs and dangerous substances after he was found in possession 58 twists of dagga the authorities said he was selling.

In a statement, the ZRP said they arrested Kelvin Kembo following a tip off and found the dagga stashed in cigarette boxes.

“Police in Harare acted on a tip-off and arrested Kelvin Kembo (26) for selling dagga at Corner Cameroon Street and Charter Road, Harare. Police recovered 58 twists of prepared dagga stashed in Madison cigarette boxes,” read the statement

Meanwhile, the ZRP says it has to date arrested more than 10 000 people through the ongoing operation code named “No to dangerous drugs and illicit substances, See Something, Say Something” which commenced last month.

“On 20/03/23, police arrested 44 people on the operation, “No to dangerous drugs and illicit substances,” bringing cumulative arrests to 4 078. Meanwhile, 263 arrests were made on the operation on Passengers Public Service Vehicles, bringing cumulative arrests to 10 628.  On the other hand, 209 arrests were made on the operation, “No to unruly behavior by touts,” bringing cumulative arrests to 12 433,” said the ZRP

The blitz has so far netted known drug peddlers in the country and some have been arraigned before the courts where their cases are pending.
