The much-awaited Castle Larger Premier Soccer League match pitting Dynamos FC and Highlanders which was scheduled for Barbourfields Stadium this weekend has been postponed.
In a statement, PSL communications and liaison manager Kudzai Bare said the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) had directed the postponement to pave way for the two giants to prepare for the independence celebrations match, in which they will lock horns.
“Please be advised that the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match between Highlanders FC and Dynamos FC scheduled to be played on Saturday 15 April 2023 has been postponed. This comes following a directive from the Sports and Recreation Commission for the teams to participate in the Independence Day activities which will commence on the 16th of April 2023,” Bare said
She said the postponed fixture will be rescheduled in due course
Dubbed ‘The Battle of Zimbabwe’, the two teams have a long-standing rivalry, and every encounter between them is fiercely contested.
Dynamos and Highlanders are sitting on third and fourth positions on the eighteen team log and are only separated by goal difference having played four games winning two and drawing two.
