Israel Turns Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital Into Ruins After Two-Week Raid

By Edward Makuzva

Israel has left Gaza’s largest hospital, al-Shifa, in ruins after a two-week raid by Israeli occupation forces, resulting in the deaths of over 400 Palestinian civilians, including doctors who sought refuge within the hospital compound.

Ambassador of the State of Palestine, Dr. Tamer Almassri, strongly condemns the Israeli assault, stating that the medical complex is now completely destroyed and out of service.

The devastation includes the destruction of all departments, buildings, and infrastructure within the Al-Shifa Complex.

Dr. Almassri emphasizes the difficulty in determining the exact number of civilian casualties, given that the Israeli forces bulldozed roads and buried bodies both inside and around the complex.

Additionally, many homes and residential buildings in the vicinity of the hospital were burned or destroyed.

“The crimes committed by the Israeli authorities over the past six months are among the greatest barbarities in human history. Those responsible for these atrocities must be held accountable, and those who have allowed these crimes to occur will be remembered as complicit in this dark chapter of history,” Dr. Almassri declares.

He denounces the Israeli forces for targeting Gaza’s hospitals, where thousands of Palestinians seek shelter during Israeli bombardments.

He also highlights the killing of seven aid workers from the US-based humanitarian group World Central Kitchen by Israeli forces.

Furthermore, Dr. Almassri condemns the massacre of six families, resulting in the deaths of at least 63 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip over the last 24 hours.

He notes that the death toll from the Israeli onslaught since October 7 has reached 32,845 reported fatalities, with an additional 75,392 individuals sustaining injuries, the majority of whom are women and children.

Dr. Almassri asserts that Israel’s actions violate human conscience and international law, posing a threat to international peace and stability.

He calls for immediate action to implement the latest UN Security Council resolution demanding a ceasefire in Gaza and the additional measures announced by the International Court of Justice.
