Muzorewa Urges Opposition Parties to Unite for National Progress

By Edward Makuzva

Opposition United African National Council (UANC) leader Rev Dr. Gwinyai Muzorewa, has called on opposition political parties to set aside their differences and unite for the betterment of the nation.

Addressing journalists in Harare yesterday, Muzorewa highlighted that the call for unity was a significant blow to the ruling Zanu PF party, which had long thrived on the disarray amongst its opponents.

“By coming together, the opposition parties aim to create an indomitable force capable of challenging the status quo and ushering in much-needed change,” he said

Dr. Muzorewa revealed that the united opposition will make a solemn commitment to work towards a shared vision of promoting democracy, transparency, and accountability.

“It will be able to hold the government accountable for its actions and advocate for reforms that would benefit the people. We have to put aside our differences to stand united for the greater good. We acknowledge that our diversity is our greatest strength, and together, we can achieve far more than we ever could alone,” explained Muzorewa

Speaking on the upcoming SADC summit, the UANC President highlighted the importance of displaying wisdom and maturity as founding members of SADC by extending a warm welcome to guests with dignity, respect, and cultural appreciation.

He made it clear that this was not the time to highlight political differences, but rather to showcase unity and solidarity for the greater good of the nation.
