Grace Mugabe Attends SADC Summit

Former First lady Grace Mugabe is in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) attending the 42nd Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) summit where the regional bloc was honoring the community’s founding fathers for the role they played in its formation.

The former First Lady was receiving her late husband and former President Robert Mugabe’s award. It was also the first time in three years that she was publicly meeting with President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the two last met during Mugabe’s funeral.

The founding fathers who are all now late were Angola’s Augustinho Neto, Sir Seretse Khama (Botswana) King Sobhuza II (Eswathini), Samora Machel (Mozambique) and Tanzania’s Julius Nyerere.

Zimbabwe’s Robert Mugabe, Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda (Malawi), Kenneth Kaunda (Zambia) were all honored with awards being received by members of their families.
