Mliswa ‘Vindicated’ After Wadyejena’s Arrest ?

Outspoken Norton legislator Temba Mliswa says he has been proved right following Tuesday’s arrest of Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Gokwe Nembudziya Justice Mayor Wadyejena on allegations of fraud involving US$5 million.

Mliswa said he was vindicated following a tweet he posted in December 2019 after the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) had seized a bus that had been donated to Caps United Football Club demanding additional customs duty.

The legislator then questioned why Zimra were pursuing the bus and remained quiet on the lifestyle audit of Wadyejena who at that time had bought a US$410 000 Lamborghini supercar.

“I have been repeatedly calling for investigations into Wadyejena’s wealth as it was clear that something was afoot. Now am vindicated. So many criminal activities are underfoot but not much effort has been put into investigating or arresting those involved.

“I have even called for reshuffling of Parliamentary Portfolio Committee Chairpersons as some of the leaders are not ethically clean to head these Committees. If Cabinet can be reshuffled why not Portfolio Committees?

“However, there is so much politics involved in these positions. For example I was removed as the Chair for the Mines Committee through a conspiracy which involved my successor taking the involved Parliamentarians to SA and buying them suits as bribes!” Mliswa said.

The Gokwe-Nembudziya legislator was arrested yesterday by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) and taken to court today.

Wadyajena was arrested alongside Cotton Company (COTTCO) officials Pius Manamike, Maxmore Njanji, Fortunate Molai and Chiedza Danha a director in Pierpont Moncroix on allegations of money laundering, their arrest was confirmed by ZACC.

“ZACC has arrested Gokwe-Nembudziya legislator Justice Mayor Wadyajena, COTTCO officials Pius Manamike, Maxmore Njanji and Fortunate Molai, and Pierpont Moncroix director Chiedza Danha on fraud and money laundering charges involving USD$5million,” said ZACC.
