By Sifiso Ngwenya

Manchester United paid homage to slain South African rapper AKA who was shot and killed outside a restaurant on February 10 in Durban, South Africa.

AKA was a true diehard fan and had a tattoo of English Premier League giants Manchester United to prove it.

According to the police, he was shot six times and died at the scene.

Forbes was with Tebello Tibz Motsoane, who was also shot and killed on the evening. The rapper’s bodyguard was also hurt.

On Wednesday, The Red Devils paid a special tribute to the Sim Dope rapper in their program for their FA Cup game against West Ham.

Manchester United locked horns with West Ham in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Old Trafford this past Wednesday. In the obituary section, high riding Man United displayed a heart-warming tribute to the South African rapper.

“We were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Kiernan Forbes — otherwise known as ‘AKA’ — a rapper and United supporter from South Africa, at the age of just 35. He was a huge Red and greatly adored by so many. Our thoughts are with his family and many loved ones,” read Manchester United’s tribute to Super Mega.

AKA was a staunch fan of Man United and often hyped his fellow countrymen Benni McCarthy on social media.

Just before AKA’s tragic death, the hip-hop artist shared a post from Man United’s Instagram account hyping Benni McCarthy on his Instagram stories.

On Friday, McCarthy posted two pictures on his Instagram page to show his appreciation for Manchester United in honouring AKA, his fellow countrymen.

Sharing the cover of the Manchester United Match Programme, Benni McCarthy captioned the pictures: “FA Cup Match Programme with a nice mention for my brother AKA.”
