The Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company (ZETDC), has announced that the prepaid electricity token purchase system will be temporarily unavailable from May 5th to May 6th, 2023.
ZETDC, a subsidiary of ZESA Holdings, issued a public notice on Saturday, informing customers of the scheduled disruption in service.
According to the notice, customers will be unable to purchase prepaid electricity tokens starting from 4:30 PM on May 5th until midnight on May 6th, 2023.
The temporary suspension of the prepaid vending system is necessary to facilitate significant maintenance work on the system.
The official statement from ZETDC read, “This notice serves to advise all Valued Clients on the unavailability of the prepaid electricity token purchase system from 5th May 2023 at 16:30 hours to 6th May 2023 at 24:00 hours. This is to allow for major system maintenance on the prepaid vending system. Clients are therefore advised to make arrangements to purchase sufficient electricity tokens to sustain them during the service disruption period. The inconvenience caused is sincerely regretted.”
ZETDC encouraged consumers them to plan accordingly by ensuring they have an adequate supply of electricity tokens to meet their needs during the temporary service interruption.
