Mliswa Blasts CCC Over Nomination Process

By Staff Reporter

Norton legislator Temba Mliswa has strongly criticized the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) over its candidate selection process, describing it as a “huge democratic farce devoid of what it sought to amplify.”

In tweet posted Sunday evening, Mliswa accused the CCC of lacking a “tactical substance” to produce the best candidates and creating a system “too full of holes.”

“For all intents& purposes the @CCCZimbabwe modus operandi for selection of candidates has been a huge democratic farce devoid of what it sought to amplify. It has been a system too full of holes& lacks the tactical substance to produce the best candidate as thought.

“Whereas many party supporters will defend it on partisan grounds the reality is that the idea of a consensus model was too theoretical and lacked practical precision to work when employed. In Norton the CCC event at Ngoni actually degenerated into a verbal brawl between camps,” tweeted Mliswa

The legislator went on to compare the CCC’s selection process unfavorably to that of the ruling ZANU-PF party, stating that the primary elections model used by the party is better.

“From this evidence one can surmise that primary elections model used by ZANU PF is better. It has its disadvantages though. Ultimately, the disgruntled are always there for us independents to comfort& harvest! The issue for parties is which system produces less disgruntlement.

“Unlike my thoughts before it appears structures are an inviolable requirement for order and direction for such a huge party. They can be in a variety of forms but ultimately, they are fundamental. In its current whirlwind state, CCC runs the risk of exploding into nothingness.” Mliswa said

The opposition candidate selection process has divided opinion with the party facing criticism over the model describing it as unfriendly and undemocratic.
