Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Kwekwe apprehended four individuals in connection with a gruesome murder that occurred at a night club in Silobela on December 1.

Learnmore Chiribani (28), Archford Dube (20), Marshal Chuma (19), and Marvellous Kuchicha (19) were taken into custody during a raid at a witchdoctor’s house in Mbizo, Kwekwe, where they were allegedly seeking a cleansing ceremony.

The victim of the Silobela night club murder was identified as Ernest Moyo (28), who tragically lost his life after being indiscriminately stabbed with knives during a confrontation of undisclosed origins.

Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that the arrests were made based on information received by the CID Kwekwe.

“The arrest of the four suspects led to the recovery of a Columbian knife, a VI pin stainless steel kitchen knife, and an okapi knife which were stashed in a plastic bag under a block brick behind the witchdoctor’s house,” Assistant Commissioner Nyathi said

The motives behind the murder are yet to be fully disclosed, but investigations are ongoing to unravel the circumstances that led to the fatal attack at the Silobela night club.

In a separate incident on 03/12/24, the town of Zvishavane was rocked by another murder case. Maphios Mativenga (40) was apprehended by the local police in connection with the killing of Simbarashe Moyo.

The victim was discovered dead in a Honda Fit motor vehicle parked at a deserted home in Mudereri Village, Chief Masunda.

The motive behind Simbarashe Moyo’s murder appears to be rooted in accusations made by the suspect.

Mativenga allegedly accused the victim of having an affair with his wife, leading to a violent assault that resulted in Simbarashe Moyo’s tragic death.
