Mliswa Tears Into July Moyo Over Harare Water Crisis

Independent Norton legislator Temba Mliswa has castigated Local Government Minister July Moyo over his silence on the shutdown of Harare’s waterworks owing to shortages of water treatment chemicals.

Posting on twitter, Mliswa rebuked the Moyo’s silence saying he is an embarrassment because of his greediness and has to be stopped.

“It is saddening to notice that the Minister of Local Government can watch the waterworks of our country’s capital completely shut down without showing much concern. July Moyo is the same Minister who has been vehemently threatening City of Harare to pay to an unwanted Waste to Energy project yet when it comes to crucial water treatment he is nowhere to be found.

“Here is a Minister who is clinging on to devolution funds in the process incapacitating Harare City’s crucial services like water treatment thereby exposing millions of residents to diseases. This is the same man who corruptly pushed for the purchase and installation of water pumps. The big question is, what is the purpose of water pumps when you don’t have water?

“This man is a big embarrassment to the African race, his greediness knows no bounds. It’s one thing to be greedy but its totally criminal to deny residents clean water. A government of the people cannot afford to stand and watch while July is running riot exposing millions of people to diseases.  This madness needs to be stopped!” Mliswa charged.

Most areas in Harare experienced water challenges last week with Harare Mayor Jacob Mafume attributing the crisis to lack of water treatment chemicals.
