A Gokwe man has been arrested on allegations of raping and deliberately infecting his then 18 year old cousin with HIV.
Allegations are that sometime in 2017 the accused only identified as Feedmore was an officer under a humanitarian agency responsible for distributing food aid however, he took advantage of his position and raped his cousin who was coming from a traditional wedding before threatening with death.
The suspect is alleged to have told her that if she reports the rape he would withdraw her grandmother’s name from the food aid program.
The matter only came to light in June this year when the now married cousin fell sick prompting the husband to take her for medical attention upon which she tested positive for HIV leading to the confession by the wife that she was raped and infected by the uncle.
Feedmore admitted to raping the woman and confessed that he was HIV positive leading to his arrest and was found in possession of 20 bags of maize which he failed to account for.
He was charged with rape and forgery and is expected to appear in court soon.
