Chevrons Lose to India By 10 Wickets

India posted a 10 wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the first match of the three One Day Internationals ODIs played at Harare Sports Club.

Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill hit fifties to power India to a clinical win.

It was the record ninth-wicket stand of 70 runs between the home team’s Brad Evans (33) and Richard Ngarava (32) that took Zimbabwe close to the 200-run mark.

In response, Dhawan and Gill put up a 192-run partnership to help India get past the finish line in just 30.5 overs.

Dhawan scored 81 from 113 balls and Gill a more brutal 82 from 72 deliveries.

The Chevrons failed to pick momentum from the recently ended series which to they clinched 2-1 against Bangladesh.

Stand in captain Regis Chakabva lost the toss and the lads were send in to bat first.

The return of Sean Williams in the squad failed to spark momentum as he was sent to the pavilion for 1 with the first inning ending with Zimbabwe bowled out for 189.

Regis Chakabva scored most runs of 35 off 50 balls for Zimbabwe.

India chased down the target in 30 overs for no loss with Shubman Gill and shikkar Dhawan scoring 81 and 82 runs respectively.

More focus will be in the second ODI on Saturday the 20th of August
