Police Arrest Koala Estate US$30k Armed Robbery Suspects

By Staff Reporter

A group of suspected armed robbers who carried out an attack on Koala Estate in September 2022 and stole US$30,000, a Toyota Land Cruiser, an Isuzu vehicle, and cellphones, have been apprehended.

The five suspects are Godknows Mukavi (35), Charles Muzvidzwa (45), Tatenda Madzudzo (28), Munyaradzi Gumbo (42), and Happiness Mutsago (41).

Two of the suspects, Mukavi and Muzvidzwa, are also believed to have kidnapped someone in February 2023, after hiring their truck at N Richards wholesale in Tynwald.

They allegedly used the same truck to raid Goodhope Farm in Mt Hampden, posing as security agents searching for illegal drugs.

They stole at least US$1,500 and other valuables, after capturing the farm’s security guard and a farm manager.

The police have seized various items, including a 9mm FN Browning pistol, two pellet guns, a cutting torch, capsule explosive, a capped explosive-fused cable, four pairs of handcuffs, and a pack of tyre cables from the suspects.

According to Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the suspects disguised themselves as cellphone network providers wearing orange work suits to survey a location for a network booster at Koala Park Estate.

The investigation led to the arrest of Godknows Mukavi, who subsequently implicated the other four suspects.
