Chamisa Urges Party Supporters To Embrace Tolerance

By Staff Reporter

Opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) president, Nelson Chamisa, has called for party loyalists to embrace tolerance and unity.

In a tweet posted on social media following recent outbursts by party supporters against journalist Hopewell Chin’ono, Chamisa urged Zimbabweans to remain united and focused on their goal of winning the upcoming elections.

Chamisa’s tweet emphasized the need for tolerance and respect for divergent views, stressing the importance of focusing on the ultimate goal of winning elections.

“Fellow Citizens, Brothers & Sisters, a lot has happened, this is not the time to trade barbs and fight each other. We give oppressors oxygen and a lifeline. Let’s fix our eyes on the prize. We must win change for everyone. Let there be peace & love! We’re #OnePeople Zimbabwe! Weak people criticize others. Strong people criticize themselves and give ideas and solutions. Let’s all be strong people. Stronger together!” said Chamisa.

The call for unity and tolerance comes at a crucial time for the opposition movement with elections approaching calls have been made for the party to remain focused on its objectives, rather than being distracted by internal conflicts and disagreements.

Chamisa’s tweet serves as a reminder to party loyalists that their strength lies in their unity and their ability to work together towards a common goal.

The importance of unity and tolerance cannot be overstated in the country as political divisions and polarization have often led to violence and unrest.

It is therefore incumbent upon all citizens, and particularly those in positions of leadership, to promote a culture of respect and tolerance for divergent views and opinions.

One senior citizen who spoke on condition of anonymity said “Chamisa’s call for unity and tolerance should be heeded not just by his party loyalists, but by all Zimbabweans. Only by working together can the country overcome the many challenges it faces and build a brighter future for all its citizens”
