CCC Candidate Vetting Complete, Overwhelmed By Impressive Response

By Staff Reporter

The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) says it has successfully completed the vetting process for aspiring candidates for this year’s harmonised elections.

The opposition movement claims it has received an overwhelming response with over 2,000 nominations for aspiring Members of Parliament from enthusiastic citizens.

CCC deputy national spokesperson Gift Siziba provided an update on the candidate selection process during a press conference held yesterday highlighting remarkable participation of Zimbabweans.

“We have had an overwhelming subscription from different Zimbabweans. We have more than 10,000 people who have been nominated to be councillors, who are currently going through vetting,” Siziba said

Siziba further revealed that the nomination process for the Presidential candidates witnessed an astounding response.

“We received more than 36 000 forms for the nomination of the Presidential candidates and President Nelson Chamisa was nominated overwhelmingly, it’s impressive for us, we are very happy with the subscription,” said Siziba

He said selection process will now head to the caucuses and successful candidates to represent the party in the harmonised elections will be announced thereafter.

CCC has adopted a unique approach to candidate selection, moving away from the traditional primary elections.

The party has entrusted the Citizens’ Independent Candidate Selection Panel (CISP), an independent body, to oversee the nomination process and claims this reflects the party’s commitment to transparency, impartiality, and creating a level playing field for all candidates.

The CISP will now diligently assess the nominated candidates, considering their qualifications, capabilities, and alignment with the CCC’s values and objectives.

Through this rigorous vetting process, Siziba said the CCC aims to identify individuals who can effectively represent their constituents, contribute to national development, and uphold the principles of justice and equality.
