Israel Deliberately Targeting Palestinian Children: Palestinian Ambassador

By Edward Makuzva

Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Tamer Almassri says Israel is deliberately targeting Palestinian children and committing severe crimes against them.

These crimes according to Almassri include killings, maimings, arrests, detentions, and numerous other untold traumas.

In an interview, Ambassador Almassri stated that the most recent victim of Israeli brutality against Palestinian children was three-year-old Mohammed Haitham Ibrahim Tamimi from the village of Nabi Saleh.

He explained that Mohammed was intentionally shot in the head by Israeli occupying forces using live ammunition, highlighting their complete disregard for Palestinian lives, including those of children.

“This is the 20th Palestinian child shot and killed by Israel in 2023. It is yet another Israeli war crime against a defenseless and innocent child, without any consequences,” said Ambassador Almassri.

Furthermore, Israel not only takes the lives of Palestinian children but also deprives them of their fundamental human rights.

Palestinian children face obstacles in accessing education, forced displacement from their homes, arbitrary detention, torture, and denial of their right to life.

“Israel’s actions flagrantly violate humanitarian law, disregarding every norm of human decency and morality. They deprive Palestinian children of their right to development, prosperity, and dignity,” explained Ambassador Almassri.

Emphasizing the urgency of the situation, Ambassador Almassri insisted that Israel’s crimes against Palestinian children should not go unchecked, as they pose a significant threat to the lives of millions of children.

He called for Israeli political and military officials as well as settlers to be held fully accountable under the law.

“We urge the Secretary-General to immediately include Israel, the occupying Power, and its settler militias on the list of shame for parties committing grave violations against children,” he stated.

Furthermore, Ambassador Almassri reiterated the international community’s obligation to provide urgent international protection to the Palestinian people, including children, in order to save lives.

“We urge the international community to fulfill its obligations and prioritize the safety of the Palestinian people, including children. It is crucial to take immediate action to prevent further loss of human life,” he concluded.
