Upcoming Christian rap artist Emmanuel “Emmandt” Dhururu has warned Zimdancehall artists that the days of honey moon are over as Christian rap music will be the talk of town in the entertainment industry.
In an interview, Emmandt said over the past years Zimdancehall has been characterised by controversy regarding to obscene lyrics.
“Gone are the days where Zimdancehall music was on top of the range in every corner of Zimbabwe, the Zimdancehall artists should now throw their tools and admit that Christian rap overtake them? Christian rap music preaches the doctrine of morality which Zimdancehall music has lacked over the past 5 years, that is the reason why it lost relevance in entertainment industry. People are looking for constructive ideas rather than destructive, that is the reason why Christian rap gained limelight,” said Emmandt.
The musician who is inspired by Janet Manyowa and NF says he is striving to reach international levels through spreading the gospel via music.
“In the next 5 years, l see myself on a higher platform, getting international recognition and spreading the gospel through music to places where Christ was never preached before. I am inspired by an international rapper called NF a very humble and focused man and locally by Janet Manyowa,” said the musician
Emmandt said he will never depart from this highway and he seeks to collaborate with award winning gospel musician Everton Mlalazi.
“I would love to collaborate with Everton Mlalazi since l admired how he manages to pursue music professionally when he has a lot of responsibilities.”
Emmandt has nine single tracks and he is in the process of compiling them into an album, some of the songs includes Kalife, Pressure Zero, Mhosva and the most recent God’s got this
Besides music as his career, Emmanuel is a production engineer degree holder with Chinhoyi University of Technology and he also did video and filming with Christian College of Southern Africa CCOSA.
